One of the flickr photographers Katpix commented on St. Simeon here in my Flickr album:
“What an intruiging place! Must be nice walking around these ancient ruins, knowing that they are part of your history. I like these pictures a lot! I wish I could see your country one day!”
See this link for very detailed description and older bw pics.

One of most picturesque historical places in Syria.
Located west to Aleppo city by 40km. The area with similar ruins is called ‘Dead Cities’ area.

Saint Simon Cathedral. The vestige.

Dead Cities area. Historical scene.

Spring look of Saint Simon Cathedral.

Today visitors enjoy much the splendor of the site, and is one of most visited areas in Syria. It is in the ‘must to see’ list.

The building has the shape of cross, in the middle is the octagon, which is centred by the column. It is said to be the place of preaching of the monk. Four basilicas surround the octagon.
